THE DEPARTAMENT OF LIBRARY SCIENCE

 

Except Azerbaijani language In the department of "Library Science" the teachers of the department deliver a lectures and seminars in English (from the 2014-2015 academic year) and in Russian (from the 2017-2018 academic year).

On March 9, 2016, according to the decision of the Academic Council of the Baku State University, for the first time in the history of the university, the university's employee, the founder of the Library faculty and Library science in Azerbaijan, the honored worker of science, doctor of historical sciences, professor Abuzar Aly oglu Khalafov, received the title of "Honorary Professor of Baku State University".

It should be noted that our department is constantly leading the section "Library Science" at various international and national scientific conferences which held in our country. For example, an international scientific conference "Library and Information Activities and Interdisciplinary Integration" (November 15, 2016), the Republican Scientific Conference "Heydar Aliyev and Library Science in Azerbaijan" (May 10, 2017), an international scientific conference "Innovations in library and information activities and interdisciplinary integration "(May 4, 2018), etc.

In the academic year 2017-2018, two employees of our department - Mammadov Eldaniz Elman oglu and Nigar Nuraddin gizi Ismailova - were awarded the degree of "Doctor of Philosophy in History" by the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At present, our department has colleagues and doctoral students on the eve of the defense of the thesis.
